Bio

I am originally from Glens Falls, NY. After graduating from St. Lawrence University with a BA in Government in 1987, I drove around the United States to determine where I wanted to live. After visiting 27 states and 5 Canadian provinces, I settled on Raleigh, NC and moved here in early 1988.

Shortly after moving to Raleigh, I worked as a restaurant manager while working my way through graduate school at NCSU. I graduated in 1994 with an MPA (Master of Public Administration) from NC State University.

I began working at NCFREE in February of 1994 raising money for their political action committee, FREEPAC. Shortly after a successful campaign, I became the organization's Development Director.

During my tenure with NCFREE, membership numbers increased from the mid 200's to over 500 members. I was responsible for new member development, sponsorship campaigns, overseeing committees comprised of NC business leaders, and developing long-term growth strategies for NCFREE. Most recently, I developed and helped orchestrate NCFREE's Silver Anniversary Campaign that yielded over $1,000,000 in pledges.

I have presented membership development strategies and sponsorship results to business leaders and business associations all over the state. I was a perennial contributor on marketing and fundraising to the USA Roundtable, a group of political business research organizations located all over the United States. I am also an active member of the Raleigh Jaycees.

I currently live in Raleigh with my wife Claudia, daughter Josie, and our two cats, Charles and Maggie. I am a member of Christ Church in downtown Raleigh.
